Q/01 / ARCHIVED V1 / DEVNET

V1 rarity specification

Historical discovery specification. New v1 mining is closed; existing records remain verifiable.

ARCHIVED V1 — HISTORICAL RECORDS ONLY

This specification describes the former discovery experiment. New generation is closed: POST /api/mine returns HTTP 401 without authentication and HTTP 410 for authenticated requests. Existing records and their deterministic verification rules are retained. The current continuous run has no discovery drop, collectible, NFT or token reward. Read the current run specification.

One hash. One fixed result.

Read the first eight hexadecimal characters of the lowercase SHA-256 discovery hash as an unsigned, big-endian 32-bit integer. This is the rarity score s, from 0 through 4,294,967,295. Higher scores rank ahead of lower scores.

s = parseInt(discoveryHash.slice(0, 8), 16)
space = 2^32 = 4,294,967,296
tier = interval where min <= s < max
probability = (max - min) / space
tierOdds = 1 / probability

The exact probability of each tier is its interval width divided by 4294967296. The widths, in tier order, are 3006477107, 858993459, 300647711, 85899346, 38654705, 4294968. They sum exactly to 2³², with no gaps or overlapping intervals.

These probabilities assume uniformly distributed SHA-256 outputs and an operator who does not select or discard outcomes. They describe a tier, not the chance of one particular bitstring or unique artifact. Every supported circuit measurement has the same Born probability; rarity belongs to the full hashed discovery record.

Identity and visuals

The discovery ID is Q- followed by the first 24 uppercase hexadecimal characters of the hash: a 96-bit identifier. The full 256-bit hash remains the integrity identifier. The visual seed is that full lowercase hash. A versioned procedural renderer derives its paths, nodes and rings from the seed; its drawing generator does not decide rarity.

Versioning and ranking

Common has rank 1; Anomaly has rank 6. The raw 32-bit score orders discoveries within and across tiers. The v1 intervals are constants in engine/rarity.ts. A probability change requires a new version and an announced migration, rather than changing old records or silently altering active results.
